Report date: 2026-11-02 Event date: 2026-10-31 Event title: Q3 2026 Results: Provisional Earnings and Capital Signals

1. Flash Conclusion

Huatai Securities is a Chinese securities group whose wealth management, institutional and international activities generate market-sensitive income. The group published unaudited third-quarter results. Two third-party transcriptions of its disclosure indicate a sharp fall in quarterly profit from a year earlier, despite nine-month growth, and a mixed recovery in parent-company capital measures after the first-half decline. These Q3 figures are provisional: the numerical tables in the company disclosure could not be inspected, and the reproductions are not independent underlying sources. The event date is the accessible 31 October newspaper publication date, not a proven first release date; a reproduced RNS announcement points to an earlier 30 October release.

If confirmed against the original tables, stronger core capital and leverage than in June would partly counter the concern raised in our H1 flash, while lower risk coverage and weak liquidity ratios relative to December would prevent a broad conclusion that resilience has improved. Repo funding appears larger even as some earning assets have contracted. The evidence does not warrant a change to the May issuer summary's market-sensitive credit view; primary-table verification remains necessary.

2. Earnings: Q3 Reverses the First-Half Trend

The company's disclosure in Shanghai Securities News confirms the reporting period and that the quarterly financial statements were unaudited. The numerical values below are taken from the English FinancialFilings and Chinese Sina transcriptions of the company report, not from a direct reading of the image-based primary tables. Comparison of the two transcriptions covered headline earnings and parent ratios, not every balance-sheet or cash-flow figure; their common underlying disclosure leaves a risk of shared extraction errors and is not primary verification.

Consolidated CAS figures, Q3 and nine-month values provisional Q3 2026 Change year on year Nine months 2026 Change year on year
Operating revenue, RMBbn 8.090 -25.84% 31.748 +17.03%
Profit attributable to parent shareholders, RMBbn 3.349 -35.38% 15.041 +18.13%
Attributable profit excluding non-recurring items, RMBbn 3.339 -35.59% 15.041 +19.00%

The earlier primary-based H1 flash reported attributable profit of RMB11.692bn, up 54.87%. The provisional Q3 reading therefore points to a material cooling, not a reversal of nine-month growth. The company explanation reproduced in FinancialFilings attributes the quarterly profit decline to lower revenue, without proving a durable cause. The close proximity of reported and adjusted profit does not remove market sensitivity from ordinary trading, investment or fee income. These quarterly results should not be annualised.

FinancialFilings reproduces nine-month net fee and commission income of RMB13.678bn, up 34.85%, and attributes the increase mainly to brokerage and investment-banking fees. That would be a supportive contribution if the transcription is accurate, but is not evidence that fee growth is stable through a market downturn. The primary document's detailed line items and causes still need confirmation.

3. Parent Buffers: Partial Recovery, Not Uniform Improvement

The September column below is provisional, drawn from both transcriptions; the June and December figures are from the existing H1 flash. Regulatory figures are for the parent company, whereas earnings and assets are consolidated. They do not establish stand-alone offshore liquidity or access to cash in a stress scenario.

Parent indicator September 2026, provisional June 2026 December 2025
Net capital, RMBbn 110.193 99.805 94.567
Core net capital, RMBbn 74.663 66.537 67.207
Risk coverage 241.03% 262.55% 298.67%
Capital leverage 13.16% 11.27% 13.27%
Liquidity coverage 166.67% 167.08% 190.37%
Net stable funding 136.65% 135.71% 142.88%

On these figures, core capital rose and capital leverage recovered from June, while risk coverage fell further. September LCR was nearly unchanged and NSFR improved slightly from June; both remained below their December levels. A higher core-capital balance should not be attributed solely to retained earnings without verifying changes in eligible capital and deductions. The statutory paper's accessible text states that the main parent risk-control indicators complied with requirements and did not touch warning standards during the reporting period; it should not be inferred that the reported movements constitute a regulatory breach.

4. Funding and Credit Interpretation

The FinancialFilings transcription indicates consolidated assets of RMB1,248.672bn at September versus RMB1,351.617bn in the H1 flash. Within those totals, margin receivables appear to have declined to RMB189.938bn from RMB226.955bn, and trading financial assets to RMB429.020bn from RMB472.819bn. These September amounts are provisional, based on one transcription, and need direct verification; a smaller period-end position would not by itself establish a deliberate change in risk appetite or intraperiod peak exposures.

The same transcription puts repo liabilities at RMB220.808bn, above RMB183.949bn in June, despite the reduction in those asset categories. It also shows nine-month operating cash flow of RMB75.746bn, including RMB72.444bn in net cash inflow from repurchase business. If confirmed, this distinction matters: cash generated through repos is market funding, not equivalent to unrestricted internally generated cash. The tables do not establish which specific assets were financed by repos, nor their maturities, haircuts, collateral quality or access under stress. Client funds should not be treated as bank-like deposits or automatically available group liquidity.

The July additional discussion hypothesised that collateral calls, market funding pressure and asset price changes could reinforce one another. The provisional figures are relevant to that question but do not verify a haircut shock, forced sale, margin call or offshore funding disruption. Its proposed warning markers are analytical, not company, regulator or rating-agency thresholds. The primary-table check remains open, and the discussion's wider summary-scope review remains outstanding.

5. What To Watch Next

Confirm the original Q3 tables, including the parent regulatory ratios and the consolidated funding and asset figures, before relying on the provisional comparisons. Then monitor whether core capital and capital leverage remain stronger while risk coverage, LCR and NSFR stabilise. Follow the composition and tenor of repo funding, margin-financing collateral and impairment, and accessible offshore liquidity. A single quarter-end balance cannot measure intraday collateral needs or the availability of cash across jurisdictions. Individual noteholders should separately check issuer, guarantee and recourse; Jiangsu ownership and support expectations are not a legal government guarantee.
